Tue 05 - Castaway eat your heart out!
Thailand
A late checkout at 11:30 and we were on our way to Ko Phangan, another island about 30 mins boat ride from Koh Samui. We were told that this resort would be better than the last, ok...tough call but we'll wait and see.
When we got to the new island we had a 1 hour journey to the resort. I complained to myself as we jumped onto the back of the 4x4's.."where the hell are our air conditioned mini buses that we've got so used to?". It soon became very apparent as the roads disappeared and we were welcomed to dirt tracks that wouldn't be out of place going up and down mountains! Oh.... what do you mean we're going up and down mountains! What followed was an obstacle course for the driver of holes, ledges and damm near vertical drops and climbs! This ride wouldn't have been out of place at Alton Towers! We just hoped this place in the middle of no where would be worth risking our lives for!
Hell Yes, was the resounding answer when we got there. We were faced with a beautiful fine golden sand beach in our own private cove called Bottle Beach! The rooms had patio doors with a view to the sea and no more than 5 metres from the beach. The bar with cold beers more than 50 metres away! Basically, if you could have designed the ideal beach, this wasn't far off!
The afternoon was spent relaxing, swimming and drinking as everyone took in their surroundings. This place would be very hard to beat....ever!
A fresh fish BBQ for tea on the beach under the stars was also fitting given the occasion and despite my dish staring back at me, the little red snapper went down well!
Stomachs getting there but not fully fit, the big drinking sessions are still on hold!
